I'm Michael Hickman and I am a fully registered Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) with over two years experience of delivering good quality driving tuition and previous teaching knowledge working in the education sector for over six years.
Since qualifying in 2020, I have kept myself up to date with the latest from the DVSA with driving test changes and new teaching methods, so you are in safe hands.
I like to deliver lessons that have a calm and fun approach to make you the best driver you can be and give you all the knowledge you need to have the best driving career you can have!

Driving Lessons

MWH Driving School wants to be as flexible as you are, so we are able to offer 1 hour and 2 hour driving lessons. Lessons are charged at a rate of £37.50 per hour.

Block Booking of 10 Hours

MWH Driving School understand you want the best value for your money, so we are able to offer discounts is you would like to buy in bulk. If you are a new student signing up to us, we are able to offer your first 10 hours driving lessons at £365**. ** terms and conditions apply

Throughout this agreement:

  • ‘MWH Driving School’ refers to the trading name of Michael Hickman
  • ‘Instructor’ refers to MWH Driving School Instructors who are self employed (trading as MWH Driving School)
  • ‘Pupil’ refers to the person taking driving tuition from a MWH Driving School instructor

General Terms and Conditions

  • The contract for driving tuition is solely between the Pupil and the Instructor. The Pupil and the Instructors are responsible for agreeing all matters relating to timing, location and duration of individual lessons.
  • The Instructor will carry appropriate motor insurance covering the Pupil whilst driving the tuition vehicle when accompanied by an Instructor or a Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency examiner.
  • The Pupil agrees that they are duty licensed to drive the tuition vehicle. The Pupil will be asked by the Instructor to show their physical provisional driving license at their first lesson. Failure to provide this will result in the cancellation of the lesson and the full lesson fee being charged.
  • The Pupil will notify the Instructor of any matter that affects their ability or entitlement to have driving tuition. This includes, but not limited to; taking medication that could affect their ability to drive safely, any medication that may affect their ability to drive, any lack or loss of a valid provisional driving licence, any revocation of driving entitlement.
  • The Instructor reserves the right to refuse to give tuition if, in the opinion of the Instructor, it is considered that the Pupil is unfit to drive due to any reason, including but not limited to; being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, illness, injury, failing to wear glasses or contact lenses if required by law, wearing footwear or clothing that could make driving hazardous. In these instances, the Instructor reserves the right to charge the Pupil for the full cost of the lesson.
  • The Instructor has the right to be treated with respect at all times. If this is not upheld by the Pupil, the Instructor can refuse to continue with the Pupils lessons if they wish.
  • The Instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of the tuition vehicle for the purposes of taking a practical driving test if, in the opinion of the Instructor, this would best serve the Pupils interest. This includes, but is not limited to, a situation where the Pupil has disregarded the Instructors advice to reschedule their test.
  • The Pupil and Instructor agrees to refrain from smoking in the tuition vehicle al all times.
  • The Pupil agrees to refrain from consuming food or drink in the tuition vehicle without prior consent from the Instructor.
  • The Pupil agrees that is it their responsibility to provide all relevant documentation required when taking their practical driving test. Neither MWH Driving School nor the Instructor accepts any responsibility for any loss caused by failure to provide this documentation.

Lessons and Driving Tests

  • 10 hour block bookings are available to all MWH Driving School Pupils. This will offer them a discount for a booking of 10 lessons. Once this course has finished, the standard hourly rate will be charged or another block booking can be purchased.
  • The costs, savings and discounts are shown in direct comparison with MWH Driving School Pay-as-you-go prices.
  • 10 hour block bookings are valid for a period of six calendar months from the purchase date. After this period has elapsed, any credit balance is not refundable and the remaining hours are forfeited.
  • The Pupil accepts that the Instructor needs at least one months’ notice for any Driving Test that is booked by the Pupil. This time frame can be reduced by the Instructor in some circumstances (e.g for a quick cancelation).
  • The Pupil understands that it is their responsibility to cancel their Driving Test if the Instructor cannot offer the tuition vehicle for their Driving Test.
  • The cost of driving tests will be discussed with the Pupil once they have booked their driving test and confirmed the date and time with the Instructor. The cost of a driving test will cover the Pupil’s travel to and from their test, one hours’ tuition (or otherwise stated) and the hire of the vehicle for the Pupil’s driving test itself. This is currently charged at £115 for the booking of one hours tuition before the Pupils’ test.

Payments and Refunds

  • The lesson fee shall be paid in advance for each lesson of forty-eight hours’ notice (including bank holidays and weekends) unless prior agreement is obtained from the Instructor. Payments will be made directly to the Instructor by method of Bank Transfer or Cash Payment.
  • Discounts for Block Bookings are only available when payment is made for the entire course in advance unless prior arrangements have been made with the Instructor.
  • All Prices, discounts and block bookings are available at the sole discretion of MWH Driving School. Prices are subject to change and offers can be changed at any time.
  • Should a Pupil cease to take lessons for any reason, a refund will be issued on the understanding that any lessons taken from a block booking will be charged at the appropriate pay-as-you-go lesson rate, and will be reflected in the refund amount. For example, if a Pupil purchases a Block Booking of 10 hours at £365 but stops taking lessons after 2 hours, the refunded amount would be £290 (£365 less 2 hours at £37.50 per hour)
  • Should a refund be requested at any time for driving lessons, a £10 administration fee will be deducted from the refunded amount.
  • Refunds for block bookings or any lessons remaining need to be requested three months after the Pupil’s last lesson, otherwise they agree to forfeit any remaining lessons that they have available.
  • Refunds will be made by bank transfer only. Cash refunds will not be provided.

Cancellations and Punctuality

  • All matters relating to timings, location and duration of lessons shall be subject to agreement between the Instructor and the Pupil.
  • In the event that the Instructor is unable to carry out a lesson, or in the event of a mechanical breakdown or other cause, the Instructor reserves the right to rearrange the lesson to a time that is convenient for the Pupil and the Instructor.
  • If the Pupil fails to give the Instructor (via the Instructors contact number either by call or text message) forty-eight hours notice when cancelling any lesson (including bank holidays and weekends), The Instructor reserve the right to charge the Pupil the full cost of the lesson.
  • The Instructor will endeavour to give the Pupil forty-eight hours notice when cancelling any lessons (including bank holidays and weekends) due to unforeseen circumstances. The Instructor reserves the right to postpone lessons if they feel that the weather or road conditions are unsuitable or dangerous. MWH Driving School and the Instructor cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of the Instructor having to cancel any lessons for what ever reason.
  • The Pupil accepts that is it is in their own interests to be punctual for their lesson appointments. All appointments should be recorded to ensure that mistakes are avoided.  
  • The Instructor will make every effort to contact the Pupil if the Instructor has turned up for a lesson at the agreed time and destination but the Pupil is not there. If the Pupil does not contact the Instructor after the Instructors waiting time of fifteen minutes, the Instructor reserves the right to cancel the lesson after this time has lapsed, and full chargewill be taken.

Other and Liability 

  • In the event of a complaint all efforts much be made to resolve the problem directly with the Instructor.
  • The Instructor and/or MWH Driving School are not liable for any loss or damage caused where, and to the extent that:

There is no breach of a legal duty owed to the Pupil by the relevant person or body.

Such loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of such a breach.

Any such loss or damage, or increase in the same, results from any breach of omission by the Pupil

Any such loss or damage results from circumstances or matters outside of the reasonable of the relevant person or body.

  • The Instructor shall not, in any event, be liable for losses relating to any business interests the Pupil may have including, without limitation, lost profits, loss of opportunity or business or business interruption.
  • Nothing in these terms and conditions will reduce the statutory rights of the Pupil relating to faulty or misdescribed goods or services provided. The Instructor has a statutory obligation to provide goods and services for the purpose for which they were purchased as described. If a pupil has any doubts about their statutory rights, they should contact their local Trading Standards Department or Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
  • These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
  • Before the lesson would be abandoned and the lesson fee forfeited, an appropriate waiting time may become necessary if the Instructor is delayed. Any time lost in a lesson slot due to Instructor delay will be made up by the Instructor either at the end of the lesson time if possible or at a later date. The Instructor will endeavour to contact the Pupil to alert them if a delay will be longer then five minutes of the agreed meeting time.


By logging into MWH Driving School’s app, the Pupil accepts the acknowledgement of these terms and conditions and accepts the terms and conditions in full. A hard copy of these terms and conditions can be requested if wanted by the Pupil.
